Borago officinalis. Perennial.
Dark green leaves with a cucumber like taste. Lots of pretty edible blue flowers in the summer. Can be invasive and self seed easily.
Position: Plant in poor, well-drained light soil in full sun. Ideal companion plant for runner beans and strawberries.
Care: Keep well watered until established and in dry weather.
Harvest: Pick fresh leaves and flowers any time through growing period.
Uses: Chop leaves small and add to salads for a cucumber flavour. Use to garnish summer drinks. Known for its beneficial affect on the mind; inducing euphoria.
