Symphytum officinale. Perennial.
Large green/grey leaves with tiny hairs on and clusters of blue/purple flowers.
Position: Plant in well-drained, moist soil in full sun or partial shade.
Care: Keep well watered until established and in dry weather.
Harvest: Pick leaves for drying before flowering, fresh leaves any time through growing period.
Uses: Chop leaves small in salads, use young shoots as asparagus. Use as a poultice for all cuts, bruises and eczema. Make a good tomato fertiliser.
