This well-known shrub deserves it's popularity. Large, pale-pink to dark rose flowers are produced from mid-to early- Autumn. Flower colour varies according to the acidity of the soil, even to becoming blue in high acidity. Use for planting in mixed or shrub borders. Can be grown in large containers for patio and terrace use.
Suitable for: Requires light shade on a soil high in organic material. Dislikes full sun or deep shade. Normally hardy.
Height and Spread in 10 years: 2m x 2m (6ft x 6ft).
Planting: Soak the rootball before planting. Plant in a hole twice the diameter of the rootball or pot. Mix an organic soil improver and general fertiliser with the infill soil. Water regularly until established.
Care: Lightly trim, removing older, weaker shoots in Spring. Leave old flowers on plant over Winter to protect flower buds for following year.
