The Pieris 'Forest Flame' has new foliage orange-scarlet, sometimes white, produced early Spring, before turning dark green. Leaves lanced shaped, retained year round. In Spring, hanging, waxy, scented, bell-shaped flowers are produced in clusters.
Suitable for: Best in light shade. Must have a non-alkaline soil. Needs protection from frost.
Height and spread in 10 years: 2m x 2m( 6ft x 6ft)
Planting: Soak the rootball before planting. Plant in a hole twice the diameter of the rootball or pot. Mix a non-alkaline organic soil improver and general fertiliser with the infill soil. Water regularly until established.
Care: Benefits from a 5cm(2in) mulch of non-alkaline organic material, particularly in the first three years of planting, to encourage strong growth.
